‘The Idol (Season 1) 2023’: TV Review :

The Weekend is so unattractive in the first episode that we can’t believe anyone would want to have sex with him, especially someone as attractive as Ms. Depp. I’m watching this on Max because Troye Sivan is in it, but it is absolute garbage. I don’t mean fun, cheesy trash that’s so bad it makes you laugh and smile; I mean absolute garbage. In any case, she is clearly so exhausted totally crazy here – would she say she is seriously mental or simply behaving as is she? – It is impossible to determine her motives. Regardless, there is no chemistry between the leads.

This film features clips from Basic Instinct, but it is really an update of The Lonely Lady, albeit not nearly as fun and cheesy. I will watch all of the episodes to help me get my much-needed Sivan fix. However, there is nothing else about her that interests me.

Sadly, after watching the first episode, I have to say that it is awful. The principal character isn’t engaging, everything is dribbling in political explanations and grown-up happy and, surprisingly, the extraordinary soundtrack and a couple of good visuals don’t help the primary episode being exhausting and basically not fascinating. Jocelyn, played by Rose-Depp is simply abnormal and her way of behaving isn’t predictable which is awful composition. The “lore” that precedes the 20 minutes of adult content feels like it could be found on adult websites. Even though the story and character are written even more stereotypically, the whole thing reminds me of Euphoria. I give this two stars overall for the visuals and soundtrack. Although this episode was honestly very disappointing, which is the word that best describes my feelings regarding this episode, I will give this series another chance for two or three episodes.
